What can be accomplished in one minute? If you think about it, we can do much with just 60 seconds out of our day. Read a proverb, say a kind, encouraging word, or learn something new off the internet. How about say a blessing over an international student? We have begun to recruit folks who will take 60 seconds to pray a blessing over international students who are currently in contact with Chi Alpha ministries here in Southern California.
Recently, we presented this challenge to a small church in our area. About a dozen people responded by picking the name of an international student from a list submitted by three campus ministries and taking that name home with them on a small prayer card. Of those who took a name was Jonathan, a seven-year old boy with a Mohawk haircut! What I witnessed as he took the card convinced me that this was a God idea. Upon receiving his card, (he picked the name of Daniel, a Philippine student at San Diego State University because his best friends name is Daniel) he immediately turned to his mom and said, “Mom, tell me when a minute is up!” He then turned and began to pray. He pressed the card to his forehead and whispered so quietly not a sound was heard as his lips moved. When his mom announced his minute was up, Jonathan handed his mom the card with orders to put it in her purse so he would not loose it. I can tell you, Jonathan will use his one minute to bless nations! I trust God to raise up thousands across this nation who will do the same! Just imagine what one minute can mean in the lives of those who will be touched by the love of Christ through prayer. Would you dedicate one more prayer for an International student?
