The Journey begins

I think I was born for this! Our first full day in Spain happened to fall on a Sunday. Of course, it is our practice to be in church on Sunday so we accepted the invitation to attend a small, yet exciting Spanish church, which our IMM missionary friends, Jonathan and Bonnie, attend. From the very first chorus, I knew I was home. Oh not necessarily in the exact church where we will participate while we live here, but I knew I was back in the right environment that God had prepared us for.

I have been in Spain now less then 48 hours and I’m finding my heart opening to it’s culture, it’s people, it’s spiritual need. Like many in the United States, Spain is undergoing tremendous challenges with unemployment, housing crisis and general economic uncertainty. And yet, this is the time for believers to be distributors of hope! We have a hope that transcends all of the challenges of the day! Pastor Hector spoke out of Acts 3 tonight. He reminded us how Peter and John, on the first day after Pentecost fell, while walking to church, encountered a man who was resigned to the condition that fate had dealt him. A lame beggar, looking for a way to survive, simply asked for help, a chance to live another day. Peter offered him hope through the healing power of Jesus and a man’s life was changed.

I pray that even in these early days of transition, I may find opportunity to offer the very best of what I have. Christ in me, the hope of glory! Thanks for your prayers and for supporting us on this journey.
